Through our work across diverse challenging areas, Danle Centre has developed proven strategies that communities can implement to become more resilient to climate variability and change.
Risk assessment forms the foundation of resilience building. Communities need to understand their specific climate risks, from drought and flooding to temperature extremes and changing seasonal patterns. We use participatory methods to combine scientific climate data with local observations, creating comprehensive risk profiles that guide adaptation planning.
Diversification strategies reduce vulnerability by spreading risk across multiple systems. Agricultural diversification includes growing different crops with varying climate requirements, while livelihood diversification ensures households have multiple income sources. This approach means that if one system fails, others can provide backup support.

Knowledge and skills development ensures communities can adapt their strategies as climate conditions change. This includes technical training, but also broader capacity building in planning, monitoring, and adaptive management.
